A fine side by side rifle from one of London's best and oldest surviving gun and rifle makers Cogswell & Harrison. Circa 1903, It is built as a type SY2 400 double rifle on a hammerless ejector mechanism. It is fitted with a top lever and crossbolt, an automatic top safety and a stalker safety. It is tastefully engraved in keeping with the quality of this model. The forend has a Deeley Edg mechanism.
The barrels are 23 ½” and are fitted with three sights to 100, 200 and 300 yards, and also with a folding night sight. When struck up and fitted to the action, these barrels weighed 7lb 13oz.
The stock is 14 ½” long with the bend at the comb 1 5/8” and the bend at the heel 2 7/8”. It has drop points and a cheek piece.
The rifle is fitted with eye for a slings and when finished and assembled it has an overall weight of 12lb 15oz.
The rifle is chambered in .450/400/3¼.
